Procrastination Continued...
Hi and welcome to today's The POWER HOUR, we are going to start off from where we left the conversation yesterday...lets start the clock then!
As already mentioned yesterday, procrastination is the habit of putting tasks off to the last possible minute. It can turn into a major problem both in your career and personal life. People get frustrated by losing opportunities, frenzied work hours, stress, feeling overwhelmed, resentment, and guilt due to procrastination. Before knowing how procrastination affects you it is necessary to find the root causes of it and at the same time find ways to overcome it.
Thinking that you absolutely have to do something is a major reason for procrastination. When you say to yourself that you have to do something, you are implying that you are being forced to do it, so you will automatically feel a sense of resentment and rebellion. Procrastination kicks in as a defense mechanism to keep you away from this pain. Suppose the task you are putting off has a definite deadline. Then when the deadline is nearing the sense of pain associated with the task becomes overridden by the much greater pressure of pain if you don’t get started immediately.
Next is thinking the task as one big whole that you need to complete. This particular thought also comes into play for the people suffering in procrastination. When you focus on the idea of finishing a task where you can’t clearly visualise all the steps that will lead to completion, it creates a feeling of being overwhelmed. Then this painful feeling gets associated with the need to delay your task for as long as possible.
There are certainly many ways to overcome procrastination. But the most preferred is to go for hypnosis. Hypnosis is simply a relaxed state of mind in which you are most receptive to suggestions. Hypnosis has been approved by major medical associations to treat this habitual disorder, thus one can surely rely on the effectiveness of hypnosis. The main secret behind the hypnosis success story in treating procrastination is it ability to eliminate subconscious blocks and create new thought patterns which enhances your productivity. At the same time it harmonises you’re your conscious and subconscious mind.

Might care to explain how procrastination takes longer and more energy then just do and go.

Damn I just need to write a book on this stuff. Maybe later.
Thank you so much for equipping us with such excellent tools!

What do you think are the indicators of a good hypnotherapist for this type of issue?
Aaron
I was going to post earlier but you know I had other things to do and now I have to post so I can go to bed. ;>) I think what Aaron is asking is how does a person determine if a hypnotist/hypnotherapist is any good? If a person should want to undergo hypnosis to stop procrastinating or to eat better etc, what criteria would you suggest in screening out the crackpots and amateurs.

I am The Road Warrior
Hi David. This is my first time at your site and there you are on a topic that I am an expert at -- procrastination. I have, despite my fabulous capability of procrastinating until the last possible moment, learned to accept that as part of my personality and make it work for me instead of against me. Over the years I have created the belief pattern that when I do something at the last minute it will be my best work and ... therefore ... it has come to be true. Although I wonder why I do it every time ... I still do it.
In reference to Scott's question. As a certified and registered practitioner of many therapies, I know what association to recommend clients go to to confirm standards of education and codes of ethics. What association would I use to check the creditials of a hynotherapist?

Hypnosis would be a welcome addition to the battle to overcome procrastination.
Best re-frame I ever heard was that every time you start to procrastinate, just put it off. Procrastinate at procrastinating.
